From Our Soldiers

Thanks to all,

I,d like to thank all of you for the golf balls, clubs and calendars. I was suprised to get everything but everyone here is enjoying all of it. The calendars were a real hit and they went like hotcakes once evryone knew I had them. Hooters calendars are hanging everywhere. We're having quite a time with the golf stuff as well. We place a 5 gallon can about 30 yards out and have started a pool ($1.00 per shot) on who can hit the can. Things like this really help pass the time out here. There's not much entertainment to speak of so we kinda have to make up our own.
The weather here is atrocious. I've seen temps in the 120's and with heat like that you just can't seem to get away from it. The heat coupled with the ever frequent sand storms, makes for a very bad day sometimes. A/C's are a hot commodity and keep us cool as long as the generators stay up and running
Well, thank you all once again for everything you sent. If you have any questions or just want to say hello, please feel free.
Take Care and Semper Fi

Gentlemen,

Thank you for all the equipment. Forgive me for being brief but my time on the computer for the night is about to run out. We work south of Bagdad with the Iraqi Army and it seems like they don't always have the same work ethic, but they are doing a good job none the less. I just wanted to thank you sooo much for the things that you sent. You don't know how many soldiers have come by and picked up the golf clubs. We are going to try to build a par 3 here soon.
Respectfully,

Mark

To Your Organization,

On behalf of the men and women here in Afghanistan, I'd like to thank you for the packages you sent us. We did receive them and the items were distributed to the members of our unit. We are all doing fine and thank the people of your organization for keeping us in mind. We truly appreciate the effort of your group to go out of your way to make our stay here as comfortable as possible. As far as any future packages which might be sent, the item most requested are hand and foot warmer packets. The temperatures are quickly falling here, with 50's in the daytime and in the 20's at night, with winter still to come. After that, snacks are always welcome.
Thanks,

Jose

Dear All involved with These Contributions,
My name is Master Sergeant (MSG) J.D. Summers. I am the Operations Noncommissioned Officer in charge (NCOIC) for the Squadron. I wanted to take the opportunity to personally thank you for your generosity. The golf clubs, balls, tees, magazines and calendars are AWESOME! You are correct that we are sure to improve our “sand trap” game! The letter included by Mr. Sundt was a great read. The fact that so many of you came together to send these items our way speaks volumes and is a testament to your patriotism! It is the support of fine Americans like you that keeps us driving on each day! We realize that some of these items can be expensive, therefore please do only what you can afford. We appreciate how much effort is involved to provide the support that you give so freely. Please know you're selfless service positively impacts the morale of America's Soldiers and will not be forgotten!
Sincerely,
J.D. SUMMERS
